Purpose of the Job
Responsible for the overall category strategy, providing key insights and customer development with the major retail channel partners; including category development, pricing & promotional management, NPD & EPD, business planning, shopper marketing and channel planning for MVP’s Home Fragrance & Lifestyle specialty.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Work with marketing team to create annual strategy and plan.
  • Develop relationships and consistent communication with designated merchandising partners to ensure marketing is supporting and elevating the business objectives and goals for the category.
  • Mine customer insights, sales and data to and translate into breakthrough program strategies and ensure relevant communications strategies. Partner closely with the Insights team to effectively represent the mind of the customer.
  • Provide support and direction to the broader marketing team through mindful planning, production and execution of category marketing programs and collaborations, including but not limited to: establishing strategy and objectives, writing the creative briefs, overseeing budgets, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regional teams, merchandising and operations teams and the supplier community.
  • Identify and build consensus on KPIs for all programs; analyze performance results and make appropriate recommendations for future programs.
  • Develop strategic plans and go-to-market strategies for our Home fragrance & lifestyle specialty categories.
  • Contributes to the overall marketing strategy and the development of the Marketing function.
  • Organize and manage multi-stakeholder platforms and channel plans with detailed data from diverse sources and review for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate program objectives, elements, key dates and results to multiple stakeholder groups.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelors/University degree or equivalent work experience

Experience level

  • Category Management background within CPG
  • Experience in working with the major grocery retailers on category reviews, NPD launches, etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of retail insights
  • Proven track record of success in identifying customer behaviours to deliver a commercial outcome
  • Ability to manage and negotiate with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Strategic thinking, planned and organized and be able to work effectively in a team environment
