Senior Structural Engineer – Direct Hire Opportunity – Charlotte, NC

 

Seeking an experienced structural engineer skilled in analysis of mechanical and structural aircraft components and systems. The candidate will work on various air vehicle programs that vary in maturity level from initial concept through fully developed.

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant career experience
  • Ability to lead a small team in structural substantiation activities for the company
  • Ability to perform classical stress analysis
  • Ability to support test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Experience using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
  • Ability to define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
  • Ability to support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
  • Use tools to analyze aircraft systems for materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer and mechanics.
  • Experience with Nastran, ANSYS or other analysis software
  • Proficiency using Solidworks design software
  • Experience performing structural analyses
  • Ability to interface and collaborate with mechanical and structural engineers from other companies on joint projects
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - must be able to communicate effectively in teleconferences with suppliers, clients and colleagues
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

 

Qualifications Desired:

  • MS aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge and experience with MIL-HDBK-516C certification criteria
  • Knowledge and experience with FAA certification criteria
